The Acadian Renaissance is a biannual supernatural phenomenon that occurred in the Maritime Provinces (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Prince Edward Island) of the Dominion of Canada. Beginning on New Year's Day and again on August 15, the phenomenon is characterized by a series of rolling blackouts across a random city or cities within the provinces, followed afterwards by instances of older versions of said towns; the twist is that each of those towns are from an alternate world where the expulsion of the Acadian French never happened.
Additionally, the phenomenon also includes appearances of Japanese middle schools near the affected towns which, for some unknown reason, had students and their families all crowded together inside their gyms. The earliest instance of this first occurred near La Baie in Quebec on St. Jean-Baptiste Day back in 2004, where a school known as Verone Academy materialized on the outskirts of the town. While no one was aware of it at the time, the arrival of the aforementioned schools would eventually set the stage for the rise of Canada's newest heroines: the Pretty Cure All-Stars.
